Hi,

I am want to make a capacitative  water level sensor for my home water tank. This water tank is four feet deep. My plan is to use this sensor with ESP32 board later on.

Could anyone please assist me, how can i construct home made water level sensor taking corrosion issue in consideration.

I am looking for your expert device.

Regards

I am no expert but I haven't seen a capacitive sensor that is 4 feet long. It could be difficult to detect the difference in capacitance between air and water given the long length required for the probe with any accuracy. Additionally, building a home made probe that size that will remain water proof and operational over long periods could be challenging.

Have you considered water proof ultrasonic sensors? They will work reliably and accurately over a 4 foot distance. There is library support that will make your project much easier as well and there was some recent discussions on this board on measuring water in an RV tank using ultrasonic sensors that may help. Best of luck.

@ruplicator

Thank you for sharing, But ultrasonic sensor does not work in water tank when water is pouring into tank and water falling at a height causes waves, which gives unpredictable readings by sensor.

That's why i came to capacitative sensor
