How to Add Pictures to Your Post

You’ve no doubt heard that “a picture is worth a thousand words”, and since most of us don’t want to type a thousand words in every post, adding a picture can really help to get the message across. As well as saving you a lot of typing!

It is very easy to add images to your posts on the DroneBot Workshop forum:

Add Images from Your Computer

There are three methods that you can use to add images from your computer into your posts.

Method 1 – Drag and Drop

This is probably the easiest way for most people. Just grab the image from your computer’s file management application and drop it into your post.

Method 2 – Use the My Media link

At the bottom of the editor, on the left side, you’ll see a link entitled My Media. You can click on it and a dialog box will open up. You can use this to select the picture you want to add. Please note that some web browsers don’t display this link, so don’t panic if you don’t see it!

Method 3 – Copy and Paste

You can also use your computer to copy the image, and then just paste it (Ctrl-V on Linux and Windows, command-V on Mac OS X) into your post.

Adding Images from the Internet

Before you do this make certain that you are allowed to use the image, as many images on the Internet are copyright protected.

Although they are also copyright you do have permission to use any images from the DroneBot Workshop website here on the forum. Please note that this exception only applies to the forum.

Step 1 – Find an image that you have permission to use.

Step 2 – Get the image URL, on most web browsers you can get this by right-clicking and choosing “Copy Image Address”

Step 3 – Paste the link that you copied into your post.

Note that many URLs, including ones from the DroneBot Workshop Website, may have additional characters after the file extension (i.e. “jpg”, png”, gif”). This additional text usually starts with a question mark. You’ll need to remove that extra text, otherwise, it will show up as text in your post.

As always, use the Preview link at the bottom of your post to see how it looks!
