I know I'm a bit late to the party, and for some of you New Years Day has already passed, but I wouldn't feel right if I didn't wish everyone on this forum a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2020!

I wish I had time to write each and every one of you a personal message to express my gratitude for your contributions to this forum, but that's obviously impossible. I couldn't even single out the outstanding contributors, there are simply too many.

But, I can always try:

@robo-pi - You are the grandmaster of this place, as well as the poet in residence.  You've blessed the forum with your unique personality, as well as your wisdom. And you've made it necessary for me to upgrade the hard drive storage on the server to accommodate all of your poems (just kidding)!

@codecage - What can I say, without your help in moderating, this forum would not even exist! Thank you for EVERYTHING that you've done. And BTW, Happy Anniversary!

@pugwash - Your humor and wisdom liven up every discussion you participate in. And I love the musical references in your signature!

@spyder - Always ready to assist, it's folks like you who keep this place alive. Thank you.

@duce-robot - Keep those excellent posts coming, haven't seen you for a while and hope you are taking a well-deserved vacation.

@zeferby - I think I'll be learning a lot from you in 2020. New Years' greetings from Montreal to Paris!

@frogandtoad - Always enjoy your discussions, looking forward to many more.

@joelyddon - Virtually EVERY new member is bound to get a big friendly "hello and welcome" from Joe. I hereby appoint you official DroneBot Workshop Forums Goodwill Ambassador (DWFGA for short)!

I know that I've missed several hundred of you, please don't think that I haven't noticed your contributions.  You've all made this forum a great place to spend some time in.

A very Happy New Year to one and all!

?

Bill

Golly, Bill, I was just trying to be friendly...  I remember when I signed-up...  It was nice to be Welcomed...  So I was just doing the same... to make New Members feel more "at home"...

Thank you very much...  I will continue to TRY and keep it up...

Joe

Fill the disks with poetry
until they've overflowed
and when the year has ended
post another disk of ode.

Rejoice with joy and pleasure
as the forum grows in size
and be sure to post some awesome code
to keep the forums wise

Thank you Steve for all your work
to rid the forums of disease
and also for you KiCad work
on DB's PCBs.

And thanks to Mr. Spyder
for his awesome Steampunk thingy
and for his posts on ROS control
that he tries to wingy dingy

And thanks to all the other folk
who contribute to this site
I'd like to mention all of you
but that would take all night!

And special thanks to Guru Bill
the creator of this place
without his brains and labor pains
we'd all be lost in space.

So here's to wishing all are well
my geek robotics peers   ?
may all your dreams materialize
throughout the coming years

Thank you @dronebot-workshop for the kind words, and thank you for the forum, and thank you for the opportunity to continue to learn from such a wonderfully talented and patient man

And thank you @robo-pi for noticing, as I believe your comment was meant to say that I'm pretty much winging it here, as I think we all pretty much are. While much of what we're doing has been done in some form or other, it's probably never been put to the uses that we're putting them to, which makes pretty much everything we do charting new ground... At least for us anyway

Yes, we're all winging it.   And you'll have to excuse the artistic license.   It was hard to find something to rhyme with thingy. ?     Your posts are always very helpful.  I know I'm not a big fan of ROS, but who knows, some day I might come to my senses. ?  Keep up the good work.  Some day I'll be coming to you begging for all your secrets on how to become a ROS Jedi. ?

@dronebot-workshop

I am reading this on the morning of Jan 2nd, the winter sun has not yet ignited and tranquillity shrouds the Pugwash household, and my hangover has finally worn off. My old lady won't overcome bedroom gravity for a couple of hours so, I have a peaceful and quiet period to gather my thoughts and put them to paper.

Thank you very much for your kind words at the beginning of the year. I noticed you commented on whether a new decade was starting, it is in my humble opinion, pretty irrelevant and I don't have much truck with birthdays either. My rhetorical question is, who really cares how many times I have been around the sun? I'm with Stephen Hawking on that one.

Now to "hum(o)ur and wisdom". Growing up listening to the Goon Show on my old steam radio, and watching Monty Python on the BBC, it is hardly surprising that I have a weird sense humour, that is sometimes not appreciated and, even less, understood!

I beg to differ on wisdom, I would call it more life experience. Unlike the majority, I have led the life of a traveller for about the last 30 years, working all over the world and dealing with a multitude of nationalities.  This has taught me patience and to think things through before doing them.

I can only conclude by echoing the sentiments written by fellow journeymen above, furthermore wish you well in 2020, and may you achieve the goals you have set out for the DroneBot microcosm.

Damn it, it is a new year and I must change that signature and my underwear! ? ? ? ? ? ?

I forgot to heat up water for a bath, so I'll be going to bed pretty crusty this morning.  And yes, it's always morning by the time I get around to going to bed. ?
