OK I'm trying the reply button this time.

After trying 4 new controllers, 2 of which I paid extra for to get official Sony PS3's and a total of 2 laptop's and one desk PC windows 10 and 11, I have given up.

Instead, I went to Best Buy and bought an official Sony PS4 and tried it with the sixaxis tool.  When I used the PS4 with the tool it performed as you al have said. It loaded a driver and then it gave me the mac address.

Unfortunately school is ending and I am tied up with final projects and stuff so I havent had time to try and connect to my ESP32's yet.

I need to find a reliable training video that uses the PS4 next. There are a bunch out there but none are as detailed as Dronebot and finding one I can trust takes time.

There is an example for connecting to a PS4 on the ide but it doesn't ask for a MAC address so I'm not sure it works.

Thanks for all the help.

@zander

I am still working on the problem but have switched to a more expensive PS4 controller. The six axis tool connects now. It connected by first downloading a driver and then gave me the MAC address.  Now I need some time to find a training video I trust since I don’t see one on the dronebotworkshop

now that the driver is loaded I want to go back and see if my other controllers will connect. I volunteer as a physics and robotics teacher at a christian high school and we are completing the school year right now. So I probably won’t get back to this project for a couple of weeks

thanks for all the help
