@inq The code never lies.

Maybe not, but it's often difficult to get the true meaning out of it 🙂

Anything seems possible when you don't know what you're talking about.

@will It's ok to own it.  As the saying goes, If you're not on the edge, you're just taking up room.

Check this out for mistreatment of electronics - https://www.esp8266.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=23141&hilit=flash+behavior&start=4

Have to do something with those vintage ESP-01's gathering dust.

3 lines of code = InqPortal = Complete IoT, App, Web Server w/ GUI Admin Client, WiFi Manager, Drag & Drop File Manager, OTA, Performance Metrics, Web Socket Comms, Easy App API, All running on ESP8266...
Even usable on ESP-01S - Quickest Start Guide

And if my aunt had wheels she'd be a bicycle.

That's discouraging, I just handed out a completed project which was a knitting row counter. Had 4 buttons to switch projects; a big LED display to show the count for the current project; a button to increment the count and a button to decrement the count. It uses a 32K memory chip to record the counts and restore them on power-up.

Now you're telling me that it's going to slow down as it ages. Well, why not, I sure have 🙂

The only things that get better with age are wine, whiskey, cheese and teeny-boppers 🙂
