Name's Chris and I am a recovering code-aholic. Thing is I get tired staring at the screen all day. Now that I'm getting up there, my eyes just can't handle it anymore. So I'm trying to branch out and return to the days before M$ messed us all up (well ok FB has done far more damage). I actually started out repairing TV's and VCR's that I would get from the curb. In an attempt to learn, even if I didn't sell it or fix it, it was great just getting parts off them.

I am on disability for numerous health reasons. One of which has landed me in a wheelchair most of the time. Because I couldn't get out as much, I needed to do something different. At first I was watching YT videos of these RGB led strips. Especially the VU meter ones were really cool. Found the Drone bot channel one day. It was enough to push me into getting a micro-controller kit. Had a lot of fun with that, that it spurred a spending spree and built up a very small workbench.

Still have things to learn so keep the videos coming !!

p.s. I am a stickler for defining things especially when I see manufactures not adhere to standards. So I started working on a ... well not sure what it is. So please check it out and give feedback.

Currently has definitions for LED wavelengths (?), Resistor color codes (yes I know everyone has one, I take it a step further and define "A_codes"), Pliers, Soldering, Wire (whoa, what the hell was I thinking when I did the wire sheet) and more.

Thanks, Chris

@dewcansam Welcome to the forum youngster. I was already working at IBM for 10 years when the Apple 2 showed up. My first computer was an Analog Ferranti Packard Canada gift to my high school about 1959. The good old days eh?

Love your spreadsheet of information. I used to do some of that as well but shortly after retiring 20 years ago I foolishly scrapped and deleted all my files since they did not help with fishing and hunting or more realistically re-building the lake house.

I was on the Y2K team for a certain computer manufacturer (NOT IBM) and that cemented my belief that the only proper date representation is YYYY-MM-DD. SInce we frequently sort files by date, the computer industry had been using that date format internally for decades but we still had the silliness of DD-MM or MM-DD.

Why is it one country is always different? They even play a game where they use their hands a lot and call it football. Weird.

If you think the date situation is problematic, try baking when living in Canada. A recipe here can have 3 possible units because they adopted the enemies (British) measurement system but changed the volume part for some unknown reason. They adopted a lot of their allies (French) things, why did they pass on metric???

I have a spreadsheet with some esp32 boards documented. As usually happens with these sort of things with me, I lose interest or priorities change so I have not kept it up.

Old age has taught me one lesson, I will no longer promise future delivery since my future is uncertain but if anyone is interested I will gladly give away the spreadsheet and then delete it from my system.
