RGB Cube Programming

Hello Everyone!

This summer I built an 8x8x8 RGB cube using the design by Steve Manley. I chose his design because it was documented very well and he included everything in his YT vids, DropBox files, and EE Times blogs to  complete the build. It is all referenced here:

Everything went very smooth and after a few months of construction time (we did it a little bit at a time), we had a fully functioning cube. It is amazing, and probably the coolest gadget we have made yet. As cool as it is, I am completely dependent on code that others have written for the animations, and there is not a lot out there. I am hoping someone here may have some experience/advice on how to find/create animations. I am not much of a programmer, so any advice will be welcomed. I poked around XOD a bit to see if that could be of any help, but to me XOD is not quite there yet when it comes to something like this.
