Robot arm control software?

Hello. I'm looking at options for a new project and am thinking of building a robot arm. The Kauda (v3) 5-dof caught my eye. I've had a bit of a look around for possible control software solutions but it seems that for something of this complexity I may need to write something myself (a GUI?) that utilises ROS. Is this the case or is there an open-source ready-made control software option that I've missed in my searches? Something that will control an arm that uses both steppers and servos for muscles and both Raspberry Pi and Arduino for brains?

Hi Dubba,

I think that you'll be breaking new ground here with a 5-dof robot arm.  I see a lot of interest in robotic arms and ROS on Reddit.  You might want to check them out.

To really foul up, use a computer.
