My name is Brandon K.
I'm an electrical engineering technology student at Pittsburg State University.
My emphasis is embedded systems.
I have an overall 4.0gpa.
I am currently working on senior design.
My project is a modular animatronic figure.
My expected graduation is May 2022.

I have experience with coding (C++ & Python) as well as HDL (VHDL, and I'm exploring OSFPGA).
My preferred IDE is Visual Studio Code, Arduino/Energia, and Colab (mostly for NN).
I have experience with various Arduino dev. boards (Uno, Nano & Mega), ESP32, MSP432, DE10, and ICE40LP8k.
I also have some experience with MATLAB even though I don't prefer to work with this platform.

I have designed a of dev. boards and have a reasonable amount of entry level PCB development experience.
I have designed and built a number of buck and boost arrays, amplifiers, rectifiers, frequency generators, and all sorts of other hardware components as the application was needed.

I have worked on very low level neural networks and machine learning projects.

I think my biggest weakness is building desktop applications.
I'm very interested in developing desktop and android applications that interface with hardware I develop.

I have a reasonable amount of 3D printing and prototyping mechanical design experience.
When I first started 3D printing in 2015, I built my first printer from a kit.
It was a wonderful learning experience that I'll never forget.
It was my also first taste of electro-mechanical design.

The PRIMARY reason I am here is networking with other like-minded individuals.
My SECONDARY reason is to see what everyone else is working on.
I'm mostly a content lurker (I don't post much), but have no problem talking.
Feel free to message me on my FB account too.

Welcome Brandon. As I only have a hobby level interest in electronics and programming you are out of my league but hopefully you will find some other like minded individuals with similar expertise to converse with. Maybe you might like to tell us more about your modular animatronic figure project?

Don't get me wrong.
I wasn't trying to come off as a know-it-all.
I do have a loose understand of many things.
I'm not particularly great at any specific thing.

I'd love to post pictures of my project but I don't think I'm allowed to do that right now.

Welcome. I haven't a ton of experience with NNs, but did work with GAs in the 90s. Lots of smart folk here so you'll be in good company. Crack a beverage, relax and have fun. 🙂

I edit my posts to fix typos, correct grammar, or improve clarity. On-screen keyboards are evil.

I wasn't suggesting you were. That thought just wasn't in by head. Text simply fails to communicate emotions or nuances of meaning. I was just lamenting that being old school I simply failed to keep up with the latest when it comes to software systems and probably would not be able to contribute.

All that you have mentioned is certainly of interest to me and I might be able to learn new things 🙂

Maybe you can look at my attempts at writing a neural network.

Yeah, I completely understand that.
I didn't think you were being rude at all.
I just reread my initial post and honestly felt like I came off as a bit too pompous.
So much inflection gets lost in context.

The one thing I realized after taking all these classes is how little I actually know.
I love my little microcontrollers, but I've recently found great interest in FPGA's.
With neural networks, the main purpose was for back-propagation, and the calculus.
I've attached my research colloquium submission.
I've stopped messing with NN's while I've been working on my senior design project.
