Hi Everyone,

I'm glad to be joining this welcoming community of Forum members.

I want to learn about Arduino and programming, with a focus on radio control. I've studied a few of Bill's tutorials using the nfr24L01, pca9685, joysticks, and servos, and I really appreciate his excellent instruction.

The project I want to make is a radio controlled model rowboat.

I'm a novice at writing code. The only programming I've done is using commands integrated in Maya and Flash animation software. I was interested in learning computer animation after working as a character animator (traditional pencil on paper) for Humongous Entertainment in the 1990s.

My previous experience with electronics is building two kits for guitar amplifiers, building two guitar effects boxes, and using kits to modify a small guitar amplifier and an effects box. The first amplifier kit (Heathkit solid-state) I built in the mid-1960s. More recently, I built a MojoTone kit which was modeled after the Fender Tweed Princeton Amp 5F2-A (1957).

Many thanks to Bill and all of you for creating this Forum.

Fred

Hi Fred, welcome to the forum ...

The project I want to make is a radio controlled model rowboat.

Wow, that should be interesting, will you have a humanoid silhouette doing the rowing like those Eastern US windmills with the man sawing a log ?

You'll find lots of people here who can help here with the electronics and the programming.

Anything seems possible when you don't know what you're talking about.

@will Hi Will, Thanks for the welcome.

I do want to have a figure rowing. I could make the figure could look like a robot or a cartoon-like human or an animal. I don't know yet.

I will definitely need help with the programming and maybe with the electronics. I'll be posting a topic starter on the Forum asking for advice and help.

Welcome aboard our sometimes leaky, always lurching toward clever, boat! Sounds like you'll be well set on the 3d modeling bits - programming is just giving orders. Very precise, finicky orders, lol. Happy to help, and interested to see what you come up with. 🙂

I edit my posts to fix typos, correct grammar, or improve clarity. On-screen keyboards are evil.
