Waiting for my first Arduino Uno to arrive, I’m pleased to have found this forum. Steep curves ahead are guaranteed as I’m totally blank in this field. Aim is to figure out if it is feasible to automate handling and manipulation of twisted twine. I’m sure this will keep me busy for a while. Joining this community makes me already feel a bit more comfortable. Greetings from the Netherlands.

Welcome to the forum.
First UNO. It's a really good starting point for learning about micro controllers. Have you downloaded the Arduino IDE? This is a good editor with features that help your developments.
Also, if you are really at the start of this journey, have a look at the Elegoo Most Complete Starter Kit, as these have lots of projects with basic components , code and diagrams that are "bread and butter'.
Finally, you will find the forum a good place to hang out with lots of helpful members.

Thanks for your kind welcoming. Right now I’m waiting for the first components to be delivered today. I will dive into Elegoo. First experiments I have in mind involve testing behavior and interaction of electromagnets in various ways. Sure this will take me to the Arduino IDE in depth. I look forward to the support. Hopefully over time I will be able to pay back a little.

Hello!
OK, anyone who reads your "Hello," is totally curious about twisting twine as well. I'm totally locked-in on getting you going with what it's going to take.
I can;t wait to see your project!
