I have a driveway alarm with two relay outputs (NO, COM, NC) and a 12 VDC (+ and –) output terminal. I'd like it to send me an email when it is triggered - i.e. someone enters my driveway I get an alert. I've never messed with these small microcontrollers before nor with Arduino but am willing to learn. Does anyone think the ESP32 or something similar would apply to my needs?
Any help is appreciated!

My issue has been resolved. I used the Proteus RC - WiFi Cloud Interface with email/ text alerts for relay contacts and followed these instructions: https://proteussensor.com/blog/drive-way-alarms.html

Do you constantly monitor your email, or is your driveway so long that you have plenty of time to see the email while they make the journey up your driveway?  😀

I would rather have some kind of visual indication and/or a bell/chime that sounds when someone entered the driveway.

@codecage My driveway is about 700' long. 99% of the time, I get the text before anyone gets down my drive. The Dakota system has a tone that goes off but I can' hear it when I'm working upstairs therefore the text is helpful. Also I now know if someone comes into my driveway if I'm away from the house and can then pull up my cameras to see what's going on - think date night with the wife and the kids at  home by themselves.

@clindler

GOOD idea!

Sounds like a commercial thing...  At first, I thought you made it using Arduino, etc.

I have flag on my mail box that drops when the door is opened...  Now, I can look from the house, instead of walking all the way to it, to see if I have any mail and waste a trip when NOT!  Works very well...

Now, you have given me the idea of making a small Unit that transmits a signal via wifi to let us know when the door has been opened.   Thank you!

Our kids have flown the nest...  not needed for that!  🙂

Have Fun,
