Do you have the esp ardion extention installed? 

If not, you need to add this like under Preferences and the line: “Additional Boards Manager URLs”

http://arduino.esp8266.com/stable/package_esp8266com_index.json

Then go to the board's manager and find the esp install and install it.

If you have done this and this is not the problem, what is it you are trying to do?

Additional boards manager? Is that where I can add nodemcu ? And no I do not have the esp thing  this probably is the problem I just got the thing today trying to start starting if I can could someone write a program from a different location and upload it to duce robot using this with some level is security ? Just wondering and what are some of the uses for this in a robot and how do I get to this additional boards manager as for what I'm trying to do I don't know yet what can I do with it ? With my robot.  it has to be able to do something cool I'm sure it's iot oooooooohh  sounds fancy so what kind of fancy things can it do bake a  ragu ? What ? I can't wait to try it.
