I'm trying to pick up a selection of capacitors for my small projects. I hate not having the parts I need but I'm not sure what would be a good starter kit for me. I'm not sure what values are the most common and if I should get the tall round ones or the flat pancake brown ones (yeah I know, pretty technical speak here HAHAHA!!!).

Here is a link to a set on Amazon. Is this a good starter pack or would you folks recommend something else for me?

I was watching the DroneBot video on power supplies and saw that two capacitors are needed to filter the power and thought to myself "Hey, you don't have any of those" so I wanted to get some stuff to have on hand.

I'd say that's a real nice set of electrolytic caps.   It contains the most common values.  Plus you can always make the capacitance you need combining caps in various ways.  You need to learn the formulae for combining capacitors.

Also keep in mind that electrolytic caps are polarized.  An assortment of ceramic caps would be nice too as they serve an entirely different purpose.

I would have to say they would be a good companion to the electrolytic set you picked out.
