@will I am going to go with the Logic Level Converter. For 4 channels probably going to need 2 of them. I never knew a component like that existed. BTW hopefully going to finish up on my soda can crusher tomorrow. Using a NEMA 23 stepper motor! 🙂

@clark77494 You will need what is called a logic-level converter available from the usual places, Amazon has a pack of 10 for $13 by KeeYees.

First computer 1959. Retired from my own computer company 2004.
Hardware - Expert in 1401, and 360, fairly knowledge in PC plus numerous MPU's and MCU's
Major Languages - Machine language, 360 Macro Assembler, Intel Assembler, PL/I and PL1, Pascal, Basic, C plus numerous job control and scripting languages.
Sure you can learn to be a programmer, it will take the same amount of time for me to learn to be a Doctor.

@clark77494 I hope it makes it, I have been having a lot of delayed and even missing shipments the last few months.

@zander It will make it, haven't missed a package in two years.  BTW this is a project I am finishing up today. It is a soda can crusher using a NEMA 23 stepper motor.

@clark77494

When you get the Picos, I would recommend that you first try using the 3.3V output from its pins directly to the stepper driver. If they are strong enough to trigger it reliably, then you won't need to use the level converters.

If not, and you have to use the converters, note that they will take a small amount of time to fire and may not be able to operate fast enough to meet your desired target speed.

Anything seems possible when you don't know what you're talking about.
