@thenewdays Is the relay connected to a 5V pin, or 3.3V?

First computer 1959. Retired from my own computer company 2004.
Hardware - Expert in 1401, and 360, fairly knowledge in PC plus numerous MPU's and MCU's
Major Languages - Machine language, 360 Macro Assembler, Intel Assembler, PL/I and PL1, Pascal, Basic, C plus numerous job control and scripting languages.
My personal scorecard is now 1 PC hardware fix (circa 1982), 1 open source fix (at age 82), and 2 zero day bugs in a major OS.

Scratch all that. The pot came loose and pushed it back in and the relay started working.

Thank you again for helping me with this project.

Yes working good now.

Well sprinkle me with ashes, smear my ears with jam and tie me to an ant-hill - YES, I was in doubt for a while. The original sketch0.ino that I sent had that ! and somehow it got deleted during the dustup. between that and the inevitable "wiring" problems the Arduino is spotlighted in the guilt window 🙂

@thenewdays How does that 'virtual arduino' work, what do you input to it?

@will You have been a very busy guy so we will spare you the jam and ant-hill this time.

The virtual arduino works the same as the real thing, compiled the same for me and everything.

Ya dumb wiring issue. My bad for removing the !, I was copy and pasting in arduino.cc and the virtual.

I have had it running for 24 hours and no issues. I need to design a box and 3d print it and solder everything to a board.

Huge thank you again!

@will

Thank you!

I have 2 new projects coming up. First is an rfid door entry. Just like this video,

2nd is an attendance time clock system, for like work, punch in/out. Want to use rfid and have it sent to a database or spreadsheet. Like this one, https://create.arduino.cc/projecthub/embedotronics-technologies/attendance-system-based-on-arduino-and-google-spreadsheet-105621?ref=search&ref_id=Attendance&offset=0

My bosses liked the tempature controller so much they want to do many other projects. Plus I will use the time clock at home when working on projects for other people.

I am not stupid, I just say things that are.

Looks good, but if your door opener needs any reasonable security requirements, you should watch this video first ...

@will

He does a lot of great videos.

Rfid hacking is not for the average person. Yes someone can figure it out with the info on the net.

The shop has cameras at all entrances so that will help secure the rfid key. We plan to use this on an inside door first to determine whether to use it or not or go with a more expensive solution.

Thank you for informing me about the risks.

How hard would it be to add a pushbutton on off for the heating to the original project? More specific a enable/disable for the relay.
