I want to run my L298n using PWM on ENA and ENB to control speed. When I look at different pin-out descriptions and read info I get confused. Is there a real hardware PWM0 and PWM1 pin ? Do I have to disable Audio ? Exactly what physical pins are they on ?

WiringPi supports hardware PWM for the Pi. See: http://wiringpi.com/ You can use this from Python as well. What Pi are you going to use?
