Although it took a couple of goes the get signed up I eventually made it and I look forward to getting to know everyone better.

I'm from the UK and build gadgets as a hobby.

The 600 series had rubber skin. We spotted them easy, but these are new. They look human... sweat, bad breath, everything. Very hard to spot.

Hi Amanda, welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you encountered difficulty signing up. The forum is brand-new and I'm still wrestling with some of the settings. If you can tell me what problem(s) you encountered during sign up it might help me fix them.  Glad you were able to work through the problems and join us!

Would love to see some of the gadgets you have built!

?

I also had a bit of trouble of signing up yesterday. Chrome on ubuntu 18.04

I assume the someone was tweaking the code and setting. Yet the browser was caching old code.

I had to clear the cache and try again later. Then it worked as expected.

Hi twobits

What was the "bit of trouble" that you were having? I've done the majority of my testing on Chrome on Ubuntu 16.04, which should be similar, and all of my test user accounts seemed to work properly.

It IS indeed possible I was tweaking things although I haven't made a major change to the forum since I sent out the newsletter announcement.

I have had a few people report not getting the confirmation email. In some cases, this seemed to be just the usual case of it ending up in a spam box (which shouldn't actually happen) or GMail filing it in the "Promotions" tab.  But, in several cases, it seems that the receivers email server rejected the sending attempt and prevented the delivery from completing.  I'm capturing log entries about these so I can investigate with my mail service provider.

Glad you both were finally able to sign up, I appreciate your perseverance!

Hi Bill,

I have been wondering about the Newsletter...

When does it come?  Is it an Email or is it published on the website?

Possible to get copies of old Newsletters?  (so we can "catch-up" 🙂 )

If by Email, what email address is used to send it?

Thank you for the wonderful job you are doing.

Oh, where do we find the form to submit ideas / suggestions about what we would like to see, etc.?

Keep up the good work!

Have Fun,
Joe Lyddon

Hi Joe

So far the newsletter has been on a "whenever I get around to it" basis, but I'm trying to improve upon that. I'm hoping to make it bi-monthly.

I am actually (really, this is true) writing the next one right now.  If I get it finished today (which is questionable as I have an appointment to get my snow tires installed this afternoon and my mechanic takes forever) I will publish it tomorrow.

I send it to the email address that you registered when you signed up for it. Please note that the newsletter sign-up is independent of either the Forum, YouTube or Patreon subscriptions, and when you sign up for the newsletter you also need to click on the button in the confirmation email you receive. This is a legal requirement to be sure that the email complies with the CAN-SPAM rules regarding mass email.

I've been including the link to a survey to give feedback and suggest content in most of the newsletters (I forgot last time, my error), it leads to my own survey site and I have received a number of great ideas from the many people who have responded.  If you want to suggest something here is the link - DroneBot Workshop Survey

BTW, I will be moving the survey to another location shortly, specifically to this forum. I want to do that so that everyone can see the results, currently, I'm the only one who sees them.  Until I do you can use the link above.

Bill

I will publish it tomorrow.

BTW, if I "publish" it tomorrow it may take up to a day before you receive it. I send the emails out based upon your time zone, so the folks in Australia and New Zealand get them before they are delivered in Europe and North America.

If the system can't determine your time zone they get mailed in my time zone, GMT-5 (Eastern Time).

Actually I need a self-driving car. It could have gone to the mechanics on its own while I stayed home and worked.
