I am Pieter from South Africa 49 years old. I maintain and manage a satellite earth station and satellite communications to piece keeping forces in Africa.
I have a fairly good knowledge of electronics being a RF technician, but also want to learn more about the software development side of things.
I would like to thank Bill for all the hard work and dedication you put in, it is amazing the quality of your videos.
Please excuse my english sometimes, my home language is Afrikaans.
Regards

Gday Pieter
I just joined Bills forum as well, I also was a satellite rf technician maintaining a few an earth stations first in Auckland then Darwin then Hobart. My Dish is long gone and I maintain a small telecommunications exchange now.
I hope to learn about programming by building arduino type projects.
Regard Greg

Welcome to the Forum! Glad to have you both on board with us. Greg from Hobart in Australia and Pieter in South Africa. Hello from Stone Mountain in Georgia, USA. Stone Mountain is near Atlanta. What city in South Africa are you near Pieter. I always like to improve my knowledge of geography.
And Pieter, you probably will find yourself having to forgive us yanks sometimes on our English as well. I think you will do fine. Tremendously better than I'll probably ever be able to do with Afrikaans. 😀

Hi Daneel or is it Greg? great to hear that there are people with the same interests around the globe. I think Bills platform will bring everyone together.
I still have three operational antennas. Two 7.3 meter , one KU-Band and one C-Band and another 9.3meter C-Band antenna. All of the C-Band communications are for the piece keeping forces up in Africa/DRC and the KU-Band more for South Africa itself ( border control )
Thank you for your reply. I hope to learn a bit more about micro controllers and the programming. The programming is a total nightmare for me.

Hi
Thank you for the reply.
I am from Pretoria in the Gauteng province. I stay in Doornpoort just north of Pretoria.
As I said to Greg, I hope I can learn a bit more about the programming side of the hobby. Its also a bit of a challenge to get all the same modules in south Africa, so I think it will be a challenge to adapt to whats available to purchase here in SA.
I can see a lot of home build arduinos coming up 🙂
Greetings

@daneel-olivaw Welcome to the Caves of Steel (or is ours of silicon?).
