Hello.  My name is Mike.

When I was a teenager, I'm 64-years-old right now, I was a member of a Methodist youth group.  One of the adult members of the group was an electrical engineer who worked at AC Spark Plugs in Flint, Michigan.  We often went over to his house, where he had an electronics workbench set up.  It was there that I first took an interest in electronics.

I worked Avionics in the Air Force, and afterwards used my GI Bill to take electronic engineering technology courses as several community colleges.  At that time, I had lots of interest in playing around with electronics, but, I just never seemed to have the time, being young and constantly learning new things at my job.

Then I started getting much more interested in programming.  I went back to a four year college in 1994 and again took up electronics, but this time electronics engineering.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that instead of using discrete electronic components to set up a circuit, now the emphasis is on Programming Logic Arrays which combines electronics and programming.

I gave all of my components away a few decades ago, as I realized that I'll probably never have time to putz with electronics.  But, I do have a Raspberry Pi, currently set up as a Nextcloud server.

I may never get back into electronics as a hobby, but the way that the "Build a Developer's Linux Workstation -Complete Guide" was presented, it answered a lot of questions I've had about Linux, such as how to add repositories.  The whole issue of installing Linux apps has largely been ignored in all of the videos I've ever watched.  And, the way that the apps are described here is fantastic.

I'm taking off to the Philippines for three months, and I should have a lot of time on my hand.  I definitely want to watch more of the videos on this channel.

-Mike

@codeschlocker I understand that Docker is now the way to go to run multiple apps. I would really like to see Bill set up a Docker system with instructions that are clear, even a script.

I think such things as PLEX, PiHole, Mail, Web Server, some DB, NAS, and I am sure a lot more. Yes there are a hundred or more on YT but I tried a few and it's MUCH harder than they say with lots of setup.

I am not optimistic I will ever see this so I am also looking at a multi-processor setup.

First computer 1959. Retired from my own computer company 2004.
Hardware - Expert in 1401, and 360, fairly knowledge in PC plus numerous MPU's and MCU's
Major Languages - Machine language, 360 Macro Assembler, Intel Assembler, PL/I and PL1, Pascal, Basic, C plus numerous job control and scripting languages.
Sure you can learn to be a programmer, it will take the same amount of time for me to learn to be a Doctor.
