I have a sketch and a wired up RCWL-0516 with push button toggle similar to Bill's. It works great when I connect to an UNO but when I connect to a Pro Micro I get one or more of the following symptoms.
1. Other than timestamp serial output is gibberish. IDE sets it to 57,600 on pro micro.
2. After a short time (3 secs?) the LED dims. It might be same time delay as the RCWL-0516 but there is no connection between the two.
3. I am assuming my pro micro is a 3.3V variety and all voltage pins are configured accordingly.
4. Sometimes the serial output works after I make code changes, at the moment it's not.
I am mystified! Anyone have ideas?

Have a look at this ...

Anything seems possible when you don't know what you're talking about.
@will That wasn't it. Going to try an Arduino MICRO next.
