One issue for me is I never buy stuff online for fear my personal data will be used to clean out my bank account. I liked going to the shops to buy books, electronics, computer software and so on in person. The law has not kept up with the internet with regards to breaches of personal data. "Sorry, want our service then hand over all your personal data for identification purposes... Oops sorry, we lost it to a security breach you now have your identity stolen and you going have to fix it yourself." This has happened again and again in this country.

@robotbuilder Luckily I live in Canada and we have full protection, both Credit cards and Debit cards. Nobody in Canada ever has to pay for fraudulent misuse as long as they report it in a reasonable time. Both my wife and I have had breaches (from Bell Canada) but it was the bank that called us to query the transaction. In my case within a few minutes, don't remember how long for my wife. Given the name of the 3rd party firm doing IT work for Bell I was not surprised. We never lost 1 penny, and had new cards in a couple days.
I would be far more worried about your wireless landline if you have one, any kid can crack that.

Sure you can learn to be a programmer, it will take the same amount of time for me to learn to be a Doctor.
