Let me start by saying that this suggestion is not self-serving or commercial, as I don't sell Agon light at all. It is a new microcontroller board, roughly the size of an Arduino Uno, which is unique in being self-contained and programmed in interpreted BASIC. So no need for a host PC or sketch compilation. You can control 20 GPIOs from the immediacy of a BASIC prompt (it also has SPI, I2C, UART, etc.). It also doubles as the fastest and cheapest 8-bit SBC ever built.

It would be great to watch Bill explain how to use this thing step by step, and see what he can make with it!
