Astronomical observatory Dome Control

Hi there,

Thanks for adding me to the forum. I am a life-long DIYer with an electromechanical engineering background But missed out on the early computer programming days and so my software skills are a long way behind my practical skills! I have an HND in Electronic Engineering and have worked in the industry for many years. I am now semi-retired and am trying to find time to rebuild an astronomical observatory, which has fallen into disuse. My first project on this will be getting the domed roof to automatically follow the direction the telescope is pointing. The roof will be mounted on taper rollers, which will be driven by stepper motors.
