Studied electronics in HS, and even played with a Ferranti Packard analogue computer in 1959. Industrial electrician at Westinghouse and Steel Company before starting at IBM in 1966 as hardware field engineer. After a couple years moved to Software then spent the next 30+ years creating systems before opening my own consulting company with 2 employees. Now I am learning about solid state devices and building stuff with Arduino's, RasPi's, and ESP32's.
It is considered poor judgement to traverse a chasm in 2 leaps.
