Hey there!  I'm a 56 y.o. electrical engineer working in technical sales.  My job does not allow me to "get my hands dirty" with hardware much anymore.  I stumbled across the Dronebot Workshop videos and was amazed at their tutorial quality and production value.  I've bought an Arduino Uno and various parts for experimenting.  I'm interested in creating a project that is actually useful, but I'm not sure what that will be.  I'm looking forward to learning and sharing with this community!

Hi, and welcome. I'm new here too, and quite new to the fun that you can have with an Arduino. Have you discovered Paul Mcwhorter yet at topTechBoy.com?  His videos aren't as good as Bill's, but he takes you right from the very start and covers a whole heap of sensors and things. Hope you have lots of fun.

@mike-parsons @wanaride67 McWhorter is ok, but oh so slooooow, I usually turn up the playback speed to 1.5 or sometimes a little slower.

Also don't forget Andreas Spiess (The Swiss Guy), Ralph Bacon, EEvblog, and Vocademy as well.

First computer 1959. Retired from my own computer company 2004.
Hardware - Expert in 1401, and 360, fairly knowledge in PC plus numerous MPU's and MCU's
Major Languages - Machine language, 360 Macro Assembler, Intel Assembler, PL/I and PL1, Pascal, Basic, C plus numerous job control and scripting languages.
My personal scorecard is now 1 PC hardware fix (circa 1982), 1 open source fix (at age 82), and 2 zero day bugs in a major OS.

Yes, I can't argue with about his speed of delivery, although it suited me at the time. I've only very briefly brushed against some of the other people you mention, but I'm definitely going to check them out more closely now. Thanks.
