I am a retired computer person. I started in the 1950's in the military as a radar repairman. Were I learned to work on large vacuum tube systems. It took 22 tons of air conditioning to keep the system cool. The first actual computer was a tracking system that used tiny hearing aid vacuum tubes. Upon leaving the military I was hired by a well known computer company I was considered qualified because I could hear thunder and see lightning, I was trained by the company on there equipment which was mostly relays and mechanical storage devices. The programs were wired board and the input was punched cards. By the time I retired everything had changed to solid state systems with stored programs. The largest system probably had less storage than my laptop.
I do remember Ohm's law but not much else, It is all obsolete now anyway. Now as an old geezer I enjoy playing with Arduino's and programming in their version of C. I put myself at the beginner level and have a lot to learn.
Hi Bob and welcome to the forum. That's a long and interesting career you've had. Good on you to get into Arduino and C++, you will find it enormously rewarding and if you have queries or questions then this is the place to ask them.
If you have not already done so have a look at the Arduino Project Hub, there are lots of Arduino projects.

Gauss is great but Euler rocks!!
@ronbentley1 Thanks I am looking forward to being part of this group and learning both electronics and C++ to a level that will allow me to make a positive contribution.

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions at all, we all learn from each other and love to teach too!
Cheers
@frogandtoad Thank you I have been spending as much time as I can watching dronebot videos. Even though I am an old geezer I still have responsibilities that I must take care of. I must say the quality of the videos I have seen is very good. I sure I will be asking many questions before long.
