@will Yeh, I've never seen mention of it, but ETEPON did some mods. Will poke at it.

@binaryrhyme

I bought mine on Amazon, so I went back to take a look at the description. Looks like the top bar has changed significantly over the last revision ...

@will Ah. A feature, not a bug, perhaps. Checking that out.

Edit: Ok, they show both modes, so there's a way to get to the buffer scroller, I think - taking another stab.

@will So, interesting. There was a question from a customer about this very issue on the Amazon site, and the seller said it was a long press on the OK button that should bring the scroll bar back - but my unit doesn't do that, and the "manual" says a long press on OK is identical to a long press on ADJ - shows/hides the parameters.

The amazing thing is, the seller's reply contradicted the manual, and then he had the temerity to tell the customer to RTFM in his reply! Lol.

Yes, they answered twice and only a couple of days ago 🙂 Maybe they haven't finished reading the new manual yet either 🙂

@will I replied, lol. Checking out other possibilities, but will continue to fiddle as well.

Good for you ! Now if they can just get somebody to translate what you wrote ... 🙂

@will So I tried to return the item and before the return could be processed, I had to chat with support to see if the issue could be resolved. They couldn't resolve it, so they issued a refund, no need to ship it back. That's cold comfort though - I can't scroll in the buffer, lol. Well, I can strip it down for parts, or kit up the necessary items to roll back its firmware load, possibly - so I guess it's my "lab project" now.

I didn't realise Epeton modified the firmware. Perhaps you can upload the JYETech version?

@yurkshirelad

I checked that, and JYE firmware requires an activation key based on the board id - I assume to prevent knock offs from using their firmware, lol. No worries, I ordered a (hopefully better at 3x the price) scope, the MDS120M - also a knock off, but will get here faster via Amazon than the original from Banggood. Reviews were generally positive - but I don't trust the reviews overmuch, lol. A walk through of the scope on youtube gave me hope. 🙂

I expect that they've just rescaled the window to display the whole of the buffer now. Is it really that important to you to have the scrolling area and have it displayed ?

@will No, it's still buffered. Any changes in the waveform or display parameters take awhile to appear. It's in its default position at the centre. The main requirement I have for scrolling the buffer is to examine non-periodic signals, as well as being able to see signal changes in real time.

OK, I see now. Good luck reverting to the previous version.

@will The fate of this wee fellow is TBD. Might keep it about to monitor periodic stuff if the yet to arrive, hopefully functional scope is busy elsewhere. But it might be more fun to hack it in some manner, or redeploy bits (eyes the display).

I know there's a custom firmware for the DSO150 but I don't know if it supports the Epeton model. I assume it might because I think it's the same hardware. I could be wrong!
