I have had a number of careers in my life including furniture designer/builder, carp fishing bait & tackle business, university professor and research scientist. My wife passed away about 10 years ago and I subsquently retired, disposed of some properties and moved to a modest house on a beautiful riverfront. I amuse myself by building stuff. I have a 3d printer, a laser cutter/engraver and a messy room full of parts, gear, projects in progress and failed projects. I know VERY little about electronics and programing but have had a few successes. I've built arduino-based fish feeders (one for the river and one for the aquarium), a pair of benchtop power supplies, solar powered door and gate for the chicken coop and enclosure and a few others. I do enjoy electronics but spend a lot of time beating my head against the wall. Hoping I can get assistance from this forum that will make my life a little easier.

I know that feeling. Fortunately it is now much easier with the internet. In the old days, say 40 years ago, I'd contact a manufacturer "this is not working" - "Oh we've never heard of that Sir". Then "bulletin boards" arrived at all of 300 baud and I found that they were a pack of liars. BIX it was called Byte Information Exchange.

Most important, as soon as a program works, save it and then save again as #2 #3 then when it all goes wrong go back a step.
