Has anyone here attempted this project?

Hi Mike,

I looked into ExoMy a few years ago (it’s listed under Additional Projects here https://github.com/nasa-jpl/open-source-rover ) but never took it anywhere.

The Rocker-Bogie suspension is impressive.  @WhitheyDesignLabs did a home-brew version using wheelchair motors. https://forum.dronebotworkshop.com/show-tell/rocker-bogie-large-6wd-mars-rover-style-robot-wheelchair-motors/

Are you going to take it on?

Tom

Hello Tom,

I have just started. The 'engineering' aspect appealed to me, the electronics and code seem a bit daunting but the trees will thin  out eventually and the wood will be seen!

I have been very impressed by the speed at which GoBilda turned my order round and despatched my goods to the UK.

I have just completed one corner wheel assembly and now I need a beer.

Mike.

Has anyone here attempted this project?

Yes, many individuals and educational groups have attempted the JPL Open Source Mars Rover project.   Hosted on GitHub, the project provides detailed build instructions and source files for mechanical, electrical, and software components. Enthusiasts have actively engaged with the project, as seen in the GitHub Issues page, where users share troubleshooting tips, modifications, and updates, creating a vibrant community around the rover's development and improvement.

In addition to the official resources, third-party contributors have created supporting materials to make the build process easier. One such example is the Mars Rover PCB project, where ready-to-use custom PCB designs are shared to simplify the rover's electronics assembly. These resources, along with numerous build logs and tutorials online, have made the JPL rover project highly accessible for schools, makerspaces, and robotics enthusiasts worldwide.

Thank you Aliarifat for your response. I will certainly look in on the Github Issues Page.
