Hi Bill,
I’m a retired computer programmer and have been a subscriber to the DroneBot Workshop for several years. I have a suggestion for a topic that I don’t remember having seen you cover. It’s the FreeRTOS that is built into the ESP32 and also the stand-alone version that can be used on other microcontrollers.
It’s especially useful on the dual core ESP32’s where you could possibility have one core dedicated to a time critical task, and the other core dedicated to non-time critical functions such as a user interface.
A few specifics that come to mind are:
- Creating the tasks
- Task priority
- Inter task communication, especially between cores (mutexes, semaphores, and queues)
- Debugging (when/if it crashes)
I don’t claim to be an expert, but I’ve used it off and on for several of my hobby projects and found it very useful.
Thanks,
Jack
Yeah. Nowadays I am not FreeRTOS too. I think it will be a good addition to dronebot's content list.
