I've watched the episodes on bench-top power supplies and thought it might be neat to integrate some multimeter functions into it, or create a separate device. Most of us have one multimeter already, but at times I think a second one would be handy. Could be a good opportunity to learn about some fundamental electronics theory while also creating something useful. The features I imagined were for DC only and include testing voltage, amperes, resistance, and continuity. If I had to pick just one, I think an easy to use resistance meter would be helpful. I am always double checking the values of my resistors and its a pain to fumble around with the little resistor and the two multimeter leads. I imagine just being able to touch the resistor against a couple fixed contacts to get my resistor value. For the continuity tester, might be fun to play the DroneBot theme song instead of a beep.
I like your idea of "touch the resistor against a couple fixed contacts". I have a bench multi-meter, I am thinkng of making a couple test leads I can plug into it and maybe a couple of alligator clips mounted on a block of wood.
