I have been living the free life of a rover for the past 7 years inside my truck. Though I try my hardest not to let Life intrude into my Hobby time, alas, sometimes it must.
Despite this I built a Raspberry Pi based openHAB system which I got to operate all my lights and monitor Temperature and Humidity. It worked very well.
I hit a snag when I started trying to get it to monitor battery voltage and current. openHAB looks pretty and seems geared towards proprietary components. Once I started to try to get it to talk to hacked together DIY gadgets the whole thing seemed to be too high level.
I found myself in Darwin during the Wet Season where water molecules penetrate 3 mm of aluminum roofing through some sort of monsoonal Quantum Tunneling effect. When the DHT22 started registering a Humidity of 300 percent I knew something must be wrong. Then everything blew up!
Now it is time to have another crack at it.
Plodding along nicely with my new system.
I have the relay board installed and working.
Now learning Node Red to get it to do what I want it to. I am getting alot more done much more quickly than I did with OpenHAB.
