well went out yesterday and got the lumber for my workbench

the family is getting tired of me taking over the kitchen table 🙁

its going to be one solid bench using 2x4 for the supports and a couple 2x12 for the top. i want it to be solid enough that i can do other things on it while 3d printing

going to make it pretty tall too so i wont be bunched over all the time should help me get more done as hopefully my back wont give out so easy

my workbench

Cool

I built mine at 40 inches high, and it seems to be just about perfect. I debated another 2 inches, but, I also have a bar stool that I use at the bench, and another 2 inches would be just a tad bit high for the stool

That height is perfect (for me) for soldering, and most tools. It's 24 wide, and I have a movable, non-attached  8 inch x 24 x 24 platform that I also made, just in case, but, so far have only used it for setting things on

Of course you'll need shelves underneath, and a pegboard of some kind. I bought a pegboard premade out of steel (Husky), but, I found that just drilling holes in the wall in front of the bench for specific things turned out to be easier to find the things that I need right away, and the Husky one ended up being filled with new parts in bags like you'd see in a store. I'm kinda wishing I never spent the money on it

i read this before we decided the final height and went with 40in  so its 40in x 26in and 8 foot long

Looking good.  Another DroneBot workshop in the making.

I need to clean up my shop.   Mostly just organizing things.  I already built all the benches.   My benches are way too skinny .  The one I sit at is only 21 inches deep.   And some of the others are only 12 inches deep.  My shop is only 9 feet square.   So not a lot of room.   Only 27 inches tall too.

Nice piece of work!

I wish I could do the same, but it seems that I am stuck with using the kitchen table for yet a long time.

Enjoy your workbench.

@pakabol

The stool I use is a bar stool, if that gives you any ideas 😉
