Yaknow, it just occurred to me that I should check the wifi signal strength cuz of that big hunk of metal covering the wifi bits on the pi4, and, wow, talk about sucky. It's at 81 at a distance of 6 ft from the router

So, that case is good on heat dissipation, bad on wifi signal

Just thought I'd mention it

I've not done much more than boot it up and run roscore, but that seems to work okay.

I'm struggling more to get the Pi booting off an SSD before I try getting pretty LIDAR scans off it 馃檪

Hola chicos, muy interesante este hilo.

Actualmente estoy en el mismo camino que vosotros, mas en concreto a 聽Spyder, con la instalaci贸n de ROS en Pi 3+ . He encontrado tantos tutoriales que estoy mareado e indeciso de por cual decidirme. Mi primera intenci贸n es ejecutar ROS y ver como se comporta con Kinect 360 Xbox, y luego ir progresando hasta聽 implementarlo a un robot que pueda reconocer su entorno. Acabo de comprar una Pi3 + y empezar茅 con el proceso que as contado 聽Spyder, haber que problemas encuentro. Te quiero dar las gracias por el trabajo que has compartido y toda la informaci贸n que as dejado por este foro. Seguro que te pedir茅 alguna que otra respuesta a mis dudas. Gracias.

Podr铆as poner esos 13 pasos que cuentas聽 ( despu茅s de la instalaci贸n de Ubuntu Mate) ?

I'm not going to try to respond to you in Spanish because google might change the meaning of my words.

If you intend to try ROS on the pi, you are almost stuck with ubuntu because there does not seem to be a decent install path for raspbian Buster. And no, ROS isn't available in software boutique in ubuntu. It has to be installed manually, or you can start with a preloaded image.

Ubiquity robotics has one for pi 3 here

There are ros images available for raspbian jessie, but, they are over a year old

I also have a kinect 360 and was planning to put it to use once I get this thing working, but that will not happen for awhile due to the fact that I keep getting distracted by other projects. If I make any progress with the kinect 360 I will be sure to inform you

Gracias por tu r谩pida respuesta. Ya he probado con Ubiquity robotics, pero tengo que probar mas a fondo ( entre que no conozco a fondo Linux y est谩 hecho para algo muy particular (Ubiquity) ) quiero empezar desde la base, e ir aprendiendo y conociendo este sistema.

Hay una cosa que me confunde : en http://wiki.ros.org/kinetic/Installation/Ubuntu dicen que : "ROS Kinetic聽SOLO es compatible con Wily (Ubuntu 15.10), Xenial (Ubuntu 16.04) y Jessie (Debian 8) para paquetes de Debian" por lo que quiero probar a instalar Xenial y ver el resultado.

Se me est谩n presentado聽 miles de dudas , l贸gico, si estoy empezando con un mont贸n de cosas nuevas, pero hace que mi cabeza ( y web麓s visitadas) sea una verdadera locura.

Espero aportar algo de informaci贸n despu茅s de mis pruebas, una vez que tenga algo claro.
