In the end I'll be using all 4 connections (2 ground, 2 Vin).  the wire is 24-26 ga, should do well for 5V,5A.

@zander

      In the end I'll be using all 4 connections (2 ground, 2 Vin). the wire is 24-26 ga, should do well for 12V, 4.2A.   It's good, the small power jack often uses 28 ga. wire. two 24-26 ga wire is far better than 1 28 ga wire.

@fvasquez1776 I just checked, and my config is already set to gen3. It may have happened automatically when I installed the high performance drive.

I'm adding a diagram of the power connections (didn't somebody asked for a diagram?).  Yes, strain relief and 2X Ground and Power wires will be used, but not diagrammed  🙂

RP8, will not be used, just wanted to keep it in the diagram.  I haven't used Visio for some time...

As far as the title on this issue.. One can use a (DC-DC) converter to bring the power down to what the 52PI PD adapter requires for input:  SKU: EP-0225 (9-24 VDC).  A PD signal is required for the RP5, the 52PI adapter board does this with ease.

For Those interested.

I'm getting the parts...in

Here is the PD board with 2X2 (100mill-centers) header, attached is the mate with a Mini-molex connector that will connect with the power distribution board.  The cable will definitely be longer than the one shown, this one will be used for testing purposes.

Best,

Frank
