Interesting side note:

I stumbled across an article about a latching power circuit on the RandomNerds site much like the one Will found on the ElectroNoobs site. That is where I got the idea for the power off that you then improved with the use of the INT pin.

Once I get all my stuff including the raw DS3231 chips I am going to make up a board and hopefully get someone to help turn it into an orderable PCB from one of the cheap PCB board makers. After I do my basic design, I will of course run it by you to see if you have any additional thoughts since your first go at it.

Yes, I can see what you mean.

R-Pi 'home' site doesn't list any kits for Pi Zero family (only for Pi4, Pi 400 and compute module), so I am guessing the kits you are getting in Canada may be created by that vendor.

Hopefully, supplies will soon be restored to reasonable stock levels.

In the meantime, look after your health, and watch carefully if you actually want to buy something. Hope the rest of your stuff arrives soon!

What I mean is that the ONLY way to get board X is to buy an expensive kit. It is very suspicious, and who assembles the kits, the RaspberryPi factory or the stores? I think it's the stores so that means they had the option of selling the board only for $68.95 less. Check out the UK Pimoroni offerings, much more reasonable pricing for the options. https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/raspberry-pi-zero-2-w?variant=39493046075475

Using the search function all I ever found were overpriced kits but now I discovered a Menu approach. I am not looking for any Pi4's, I am more interested in ZERO's. The last time I saw the head honcho interviewed he said no announcement for 2022 it would be 2023 for the Pi5. Or was it one year later, I don't remember. One thing it should have is native support for an SSD boot drive, more USB-C less USB-2

RE: PiShop (an official seller) only seems to be selling Pi4's in expensive kits.

I just looked at rpilocator.com .... looked down the list to find

7332

and a click on the CAD price link took me to https://www.pishop.ca/product/raspberry-pi-4-model-b-8gb/

which looked like they were selling just the 8GB ram pi4 at 105 Canadian dollars

The 8GB ram version has always been at premium, presumably due to the rather fancy chip they use, instead of a small card of 8 or so chips used in laptops etc.

I don't follow the exchange rates, and if there was UK version it would have a 20%VAT price hike built-in, but the US $75 looked about right.

They make it easy for you to click some extra options if you want to, but no obvious compulsion.

Not that I am suggesting you (or anyone else) should buy anything .. just a comment that it looks they are playing "fair" if you are interested.

But then, who knows what PI 5 will do? And when it will do it!

Best wishes, Dave

So far as I can tell, the 'official sellers' are roughly maintaining pre-chip drought prices, albeit some boards were increased from Raspberry Pi by a few dollars (say 5) due to supply issues, some time ago.

The 'stupid' price offers are from racketeers who have managed to buy at the 'real' price and are hoping to make a fast buck .... and possibly include those looking to make a fast buck without any stock ... who knows ... if they are that callous? I am not going to test them!

If you want to buy a 'real' one, watch rpilocator.com, like a hawk!

(I am not connected with the site, etc. ... I just found it useful!)

Even Zero 2 Ws are starting to emerge from presumed extinction, and RPi warned earlier this year that they would be difficult for a while!
