Just wanted to throw this out there I get this occasionally when I try and login.. android, chrome. I think it may be related to old tabs in chrome but I usually log out.

Oh and I get this on the first try

I have gotten this too on my PC. What I figured it was is me trying to login before the page completely loads. Now, I just wait a second before clicking the login button and I don't have the problem. I think because it's not completely loaded it sends a blank set of login info and gives me a time out for being incorrect. Try waiting a few seconds.

Just wanted to post back that I have made sure the page loaded the last few times I've logged in and it hasn't popped back up since.

I still have this problem most days, even if I wait for 5s between loading the login page and logging in. I'm also getting logged out quickly, even within 30s of logging in.

I'm also getting errors today when I tried to reply to a topic; "There's something wrong with your data".

It's really quite difficult for me to use the forums at the moment.

@yurkshirelad So sorry to hear that you're having issues, I've looked in the log files but don't see anything obvious to account for them and haven't received any other reports from anyone else.  We did have a few points today where free CPU dropped below 20%, but that is still not low enough to explain those issues.

Could you send me a private message with your public IP address, please? I can put an exception on that address in the security software, which may prevent you from being locked out going forward.

You can find your public IP address by Googling "whatsmyip", it will be the first result displayed.

Thanks

😎

@dronebot-workshop

Actually Bill, I get the cool down message about 50% of the time.  I've also noticed in the past few days that I will login and when I try to respond it tells me to login.  Somewhere it is logging me out.

Perhaps it's related to this? https://wordpress.org/support/topic/false-positives-on-login/

I think it has to do with being signed in on multiple tabs. At least I was able to login by closing other DBW tabs.

Multiple tabs in the same browser?

I wonder if it's caused by leaving a tab open to the site, but it's unused for a while, and it's session expires. Then reloading the page and trying to login. I'll see if I can experiment and use the browser dev tools to check.

@yurkshirelad  @huckohio  @smithdrewsmith  Thanks for reporting this, I wasn't aware that this issue had resurfaced. As an administrator, I've often shielded from security blocks.

Yes, this is likely related to the cooldown period. It defaults to 10-seconds but about a year ago we had this same issue, so I lowered it to 5-seconds.  At the time, it seemed to fix it, but the site is busier now so it may be too long.

I have set it down to 2-seconds now, please let me know if you see any improvement or if you continue to experience this problem.

Thanks
