I purchased an NVidia JetBot that comes with a Jetson Nano board.

But it (Nano) is powered by a micro USB 5V 2A that I do not have. What do you recommend that I purchase to power this up?

The robot takes batteries, but I wanted to setup the OS before building the robot.

There is also a barrel plug adapter, but I believe that is for the battery connection. But is there an AC adapter for that also?

  • Power:

-Micro USB (5V 2A)
-DC jack (5V 4A)

A standard smartphone charger with the correct USB cable should do the trick.

Power packs are not advisable as most switch off after about 15 seconds if too little current is being drawn!

This is the barrel plug power supply I bought with my Jetson Nano.  It's the recommended supply for it.

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I'm ordering the PS and microUSB adapter.

It was my understanding that that was for when you use high power mode (which I've never done)

Yes, I guess that is true.  It's  recommended if you want to use the GPIO pins which I plan on using at some point.

What power supply would I use via the USB connection?   Can a Raspberry Pi supply be used?

 Evidently you can use a regular Raspberry Pi power supply.   I didn't know that.

Oh, well, it won't hurt to have the 4A capability for the GPIO pins anyway.

@robo-pi

I am using a raspi power supply with no ill effects. It doesn't act wierd or anything. I'm only using a few of the GPIO pins at the moment (total of 4), and I'm sharing all 4 of them. The led (ssd1306) display and the motor control board use the same 4 pins (this is for the Jetbot)

Whoa. I haven't looked at the schematics for it, so I don't know the repercussions of a slight miscalculation in voltage. I've powered my Pi3 via the GPIO pins (which is not exactly smart), and I know that the POE HAT does something like what you're suggesting, but that's for the Pi3. I think I heard that they're stopping production of the POEHAT because of the Pi4... I think I remember reading something like that recently
