Hello to all of you,

As you can see I am a new member here. And no matter where I watched out for, I haven't found anything like what I am searching for.
I think this is a question many people are interested in, especially the ones who are new in this area.

The question is... how do I know what is high quality equipment and where can I get? Last question is maybe not so important than first part. What are high quality equipments.
Until now I bought many things from Amazon. But when you see parts there, you seldom know if this is good. And I bought many things which are not really good. Ok, that is live experience. 😉

in his tutorial "Arduino Uno to ATmega328 - Shrinking your Arduino Projects" Bill talked about that he didn't got an ATmega328 without Bootloader. Belive it or not. I ordered 20 of them. And it was terrible until I found what to do. And then burning the bootloaders to 20 chips. I am sure this could be easier.

Wouldn't it be nice, if there is a new page or pages, where people can edit a list of parts, no matter tools or sensors or whatever, where they can see the name of the product, a datasheet if possible and the producer. Everyone who ever buys such a thing can be able to vote good or bad.

So in this way, the comunity can participate and make a very huge list after some while and tell about the peoples experiences with the parts they bought. It's just an idea.

friendly greetings to you all
Wolfgang

Great idea Wolfgang, but would need someone to monitor and manage a growing list.

Maybe a section for "Bad Experience Buying Products" and for "Good Experience Buying Products" would work at least for a start.  Here in the States I usually buy all my electronic components (chips, resisitors, capacitors, and the like) from DigiKey and Mouser.  That way I'm not left at the mercy of eBay or Chinese suppliers.  I would guess that some of the components from even those suppliers probably come from China, but maybe just not from someone's workshop in the garage or basement.

Hello Codecage,

sure, its just a quick shot and not finish idea. As I at least tried to suggest is not for telling about who is producer, this is an information everyone can get from internet. But at least not a nogo.

More important is the idea about real experiences from real people who are connected to this forum. Also here in Germany we have good sellers, but never the less, many things even there are from China. This  is a fact we can not change. USA and most European countries are just too expensive to produce such.
Anyway even China has some few good producers. And just this is what I mean.

Only with the experience of many people - intelligence of the crowd - we all can create a database with good or leaving the term "high quality" and change "into better matching for my goal".

Sure this is not meant for just one page but a database with good filters

That should possibly include who used this thing for which problem. I think this would be most helpful.

And I am aware that is real big job to build such database also make it be visible for a comunity who can use this. But I think this could be worth. And with the help of the comunity, the database may grow fast.

Hello to the Admins especially.

Yesterday, I introduced a quick shot of my idea, which is sure not so simple to realize, and explaining by words is less simple for me, so I thought I can make at lest an image, to let you see what I had in mind.

Forum rating

Even the database tables should be not too difficult from here

DB Table Example

Sure still not perfect, but I think it is worth a few minutes to think about

friendly greetings to you all

The image as I view it is rather blurry to really make out what I'm looking at.  I think I'm getting the idea you have in mind, just not sure how it could be implemented.  What I think I'm seeing in the image you provided looks to be 'posts' that were created here on this forum, but I haven't found them to get a clearer view of them.

Hi, if there is any way to send the whole thing to you, I would send asap.

When I opened it here, I got the same problem, it's true.

I can use the same way to send it to Bill like I did when I asked to join the forum.

But I want to ask before if this is ok, I don't want to annoy anyone by sending such posts.

The file itself is not huge, 177kb only.

Sure, you can just attach it to a reply to this post.  Do you see the "Attach Files" link below where you type in the text of your post/reply?

I see, your attachments are the images!  I was thinking you got the images from something else and then attached the images that were produced by some other process. What I thought you were going to attach was 'the other process.'   I guess I'm puzzled as to how you even got the images.

I am not sure Steve if I really understand. Anyway, if you still have problems, I try another way.

@robotbuilder

Thanks, much easier to read!

But I'm still wonder how you produced these images.

Right click image and choose open link in new window.
Left click to magnify the image.
OR
Right click image and choose Save image as ...
Then you can view it in a Paint program.
The image in the actual post display is probably a reduced image.

Hi Steve,

it's been simply done with Windows Paint, you probably know this. Well I am not a huge graphics. So what did I do. I made a screenshot from the Forum Site as is. pasted this into Paint and then started to draw the whole thing with lots of copy and pastes. It took me quite some while, but as we used to say "an image tells more than a 1000 words" I think it tells good enough what I wanted to say.

I don't know what happens. The image size is about 1440 x 1856 pixel, which is sure not too small. I am wearing eye glasses, believe me, I don't make things small 🤣

Anyway, if this is now still to small to use, there is another way for sure.

I don't know what happened the first time. Original filesize was 177kb after sending it shrunk down to 34kb.

Nevertheless, I am here to answer questions if you like.

Perhaps to start with, you could create the spreadsheet yourself, and pass it on to Bill to upload it with a simple link?

Excel has form entry capability as well, but even the simple auto filter would probably be enough for this?

Cheers!
