Hello,

Has anyone had any experience with the BTS7960 motor driver?

I have seen them for a while now on eBay and AliExpress. I have a bot

I want to take another driver I have off and swap it with this one maby.

Thanks,

Scott

Well, I broke down and purchased two of these motor drivers. Got them From alice1101983, but from their AliExpress site and not eBay. Alice shipping to the US is very pricy on the eBay listings but reasonable on the Ali site. I don't expect free, but not really like getting robbed 🙂  They were @5$ USD each.

Anyway, one arrived with a terminal yanked off the PCB 🙁  I hope this is not a sign of bad things to come with them.

Here they are:

Notice the newly installed terminal on one.

I will test them probably this weekend on the bench and then a test chassis I have and will report back. I hope they work great and deliver at least half the rated current 🙂

I got a bit curious if there was anything under the heat sink, so I took them off. Nothing... File not found. 🙂

No thermal pad, just though holes.  I added a bit of thermal paste and will see how it goes.

I hope they work. Been eyeing them for a few years. The price dropped low enough to try it out.

I have used this motor driver...
This is good take care of heavy duty motors and has no heating issues.

Both Enable pins need to be high to make pwm command.

Yeah, I figured that out last night on the bench.  I first pulled one high and the other low and the PWM high, but nothing. Then pulled both high and magic happened. 🙂

Yeah, I have the two-channel Cytron board as well. It was on my home nave bot, but I switched it out for a Pololu Qik 2s12v10 I got for cheap.  I'll find the Cytron a home soon!
