I’m new here, so I figured I would do the proper introduction.

After reading through some of the other introductions, it’s clear there’s a wide range of interests and experience here. A lot of it overlaps with my own, which is exactly what I was hoping to find.

My interests include electronics, microcontrollers, CAD, 3D printing, laser engraving, desktop CNC, and generally figuring out how things work. Building things, improving things, and occasionally going too far down the rabbit hole on a project are all part of the fun, which I suspect may not be unusual around here.

I retired early two years ago and decided to chase my long-time interest in electronics. What I enjoy most is building functional projects that are useful to me or to friends, usually involving some mix of microcontrollers, displays, sensors, logic, 3D-printed enclosures, and the occasional “why did I make this more complicated than it needed to be?” moment.

There’s still a lot for me to learn, especially with electronics and microcontrollers, but that’s part of what makes it interesting. I’m not afraid to ask questions when I get stuck, and hopefully I’ll be able to contribute where I can.

I’m looking forward to getting involved, learning from others, and having some good conversations with people who understand the appeal of making and improving things.
