Aloha all,
My name is John, I’m not new to electronics but I am new to building things.
I have a spare bedroom setup as an electronics lab. I like to collect vintage Stereo from the Golden Era of Stereo.
I served in the US Navy for 20+ years as a Radioman in the U.S. Submarine Force. We typically repaired our own equipment.
As I mentioned, I have zero experience building electronics & all the things that go with it. To me it’s a totally different experience than just working on something that needs servicing.
For my first project, I would really like to build the Linear Power Supply, as I almost have all the parts.
I look forward to meeting you all over time and hopefully sharing information.
Mahalo Nui Loa for your time.
Welcome to the forum John.
Bill, our host (Dronebot Workshop), has several good articles and videos about building power supplies. I followed this article and video to build a small(ish) 5VDC power supply for my workbench.
I also served as an RM1(SS) onboard a couple of submarines in the USNavy. I got my start in electronics going through Radioman A, B, and C schools (mainly in crypto repair). That was many moons ago and a lot has changed since those days. When I started it was still vacuum tubes and very basic TTL logic.
My interests now lie in working with microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi Pico, etc.) and I’m getting my feet wet in playing around with AI (vision models) using a Raspberry Pi 5.
If you have any questions or run into a ‘snag’ building your power supply, just post your detailed question under the appropriate subforum; I’m sure one of our many members will be happy to help.
Again, welcome to the forum. Regards, Lee
