My intro - Yet Another Retiree

Hello,

Just a few words about myself.  I retired from Cisco last year where I spent the last 20 years as a data/telecommunications consulting engineer.  Before that I've worked at EDS, SBC Internet (pre-AT&T merger), a little startup called Chiaro, and somewhere in the middle of the 20 years I worked for Cisco I briefly left the company and worked at Yahoo only to be lured back to Cisco by my former boss.  I have a BSEE from the University of Texas at Austin.

My expertise was routing protocols and later datacenter networks.  I'm coming up on 30 years of having a CCIE (#2096).

Since I've retired I've spent most of my time traveling various places on motorcycle.  Just recently did a tour in Scotland.  I decided I needed another hobby to keep my mind sharp so I figured programming microcontrollers would be fun!!  I dabbled with that in college.  Back then it was the Motorola M68HC11 and 68xx assembler language.  Unfortunately, my work took me a different direction than electronics and real electrical engineering so I've forgotten all of it.

I ran across the Dronebot YouTube channel and found it very helpful.  Hoping to learn a lot about the ESP32 and improve my C++ programming.
