I am a retired engineer, teacher, photographer etc. To put that group together i spend the first 21 years of my working life as an electronics engineer designing mainly analogue systems from industrial control systems, though to RF (VHF to UHF) with a wide range in between. I then moved into teaching 11 to 18yr olds, Design Technology, Graphic Design, Electronics. A significant part of my teaching was Business and ICT covering software like the MS Office suite, Adobe Products and similar. With my engineering background I also ended up with responsibility for the large school network and technicians and staff training. In the later part of my career I also taught computer science with a focus on systems and Python. To add variation I also taught photography as this was and still is a major part of my hobby life. To keep my brain active I currently dabble in electronics. when not photographing wildlife and editing these photos.

I would say you are well suited for this hobby as you have already tackled the learning curve. Have you done any projects with the arduinos yet ? If so, what do you think of the system as a whole ? Hope to see you in the forums.

Over the years I have played with Raspberry Pi on an off. Currently I have two one hosting a web site with which I am playing with Bootstrap Studio and another running Home Assistant (new focus area), currently as a result I am experimenting with ESPstudio. I have again over the years played with Arduino studio at the breadboard level, more to satisfy curiosity than having an end goal.

@speacock110

I have a raspberry pi but I have not done anything with it except turn it on an make sure it works. I was kind of surprised how powerful it was, just like my regular desktop except it has io and really small.

I have not used bootstrap but about 15 years ago used something like it to build my business website it was graphical and I did not have to code anything.

I am not familiar with ESPstudio but i did do a quick google search and found a youtube video on it. It reminds me of node-red which you connect things up to perform certain functions and it has a graphical interface to display things like temperature, pressure, state of digital devices.

There are so many things out there its hard to pick and choose since we only have a limited amount of time in a day.
