Hello DB Wkshp Patrons,

My name is Clay and I'm and Instrumentation Design Engineer at GE Aerospace. Over the past couple years I've become interested in programming/coding, computer sciences, circuit boards and chips, online security testing, and computer stuff in general. My degree was in Mechanical Engineering which I have always been keen on but I did wonder if I would have enjoyed Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering more. Either way, I still get to do work I love while using my free time to adopt new hobbies. The hobbies I've been into for quite a while are building custom mechanical keyboards, lock picking, and the recently adopted hobbies I mentioned previously. I have always wanted to teach myself how to code so that I can take advantage of the Arduino boards and Raspberry Pi's I have. Being able to create little projects and getting electrical components to behave how I want is incredibly exciting and motivating. I found the DroneBot Workshop YouTube channel a few weeks ago and have been hooked. Its rare to find a channel that covers such a wide breadth of topics in such explicit and minute detail. My goal in becoming a forum member is to have a safe haven where I can seek help, advice, explanations, troubleshooting, and guidance for when I ultimately become stuck on something. I look forward to meeting new, like-minded people where we can discuss fun project topics and just enjoy our hobbies.

@millbean13,

Welcome to the forum Clay!   I think you'll find many members willing and able to help you with any question, or problems with software or hardware. There are many with varied experience and skill levels, so it makes for a very interesting experience where we all benefit and learn together..I was, in my previous life, an industrial instrument/Electrical technician for over 40 years, dealing mostly with process control automation in an industrial plant (Paper mill).

I'm mostly a hardware guy, but did a lot of PLC and DCS programming, and Visual Basic (VBA). Like you, I'm learning C++, JAVA script, and anything else that may augment my hobby interest...lol

Again, welcome, be safe and have fun..

regards,

LouisR
