Hello,
I am Josie, which is short for Josephine. I m 55 and I am from Belgium (yes, we're the ones that put mayonaise on fries).
I work for the technical service of a care institution for people with disabilities
Back in the eighties, I studied industrial informatics. I made several attempts to work as a programmer, all of which failed quit miserably.
Three years ago I was diagnosed with ADD. Between medication and learning to avoid the traps that come with ADD, I started functioning a lot better.
So the last 3 years, I ve been busy developing a bit of woodworking and metalworking skills, I got into 3d printing and recently decided to get back into automation and electronics. I just finished an arduino course and looking for information/inspiration, I stumbled across the dronebot workshop youtube channel. I like the content and the way it is presented feels very compatible with my ADD modus operandi, so I decided to join the dronebot workshop community.
As for now, I have no burning questions yet, but I m sure those will come soon as I start working on projects (I'm eyeing the cam car robot and the mecanum wheels robot projects).
I'm very much looking forward to this new adventure and to being a part of this community!
Kind regards, Josie.
@josieboots Welcome to the forum Josie. I come from the land of people who put pineapple on pizza (yummy) so all is good. I was age 50 before I was diagnosed as ADD. Later I realized I was actually more Aspergers but today they just call it Autistic Spectrum Disorder or ASD for short. You will find lots to interest you here.
BTW, the guy who invented the pineapple on pizza thing worked in my small town as a chef prior to moving and then inventing the dish. Too bad, we could sure use the notoriety and tourism $.

Hi Josie,
I'm new here too and from the UK. I decided to tax myself with a project or two to learn something new in retirement.
This is a great community. They are incredibly helpful and non judgemental. I know you will on great.
Well, that could’ve gone better 😬
Hello and welcome Josie, I'm Frank, and I haven't been here long myself. There are a lot of people here that are quite helpful. Good Luck! I have always liked mayo on my fries, and here in the USA...:)
Thanks for the welcome everybody.
I ll be adding some more info about myself somewhere down the line, but for now, I m happy to say I more or less finished my electronics workbench and have some esp32's, esp32 cam's and a mecanum wheel robot kit on the way, so I m very much looking forward to tackling my first dronebot workshop projects!
@ron : Hmmm, pizza... but I like my pineapple in the pina colada's after dinner... 😉
@josieboots Pineapple is good in and on many items. My name is Ron, but my handle is @zander

@zander Aha, that's how that works, thanks for pointing that out! And it's automatically inserted when replying. I'll speak fluent forum in no time!
@josieboots You are learning quicker than some.
