Welcome to the forum!

I too started with machine language and moved on to assembly code - oh so many years ago.

An Apple II was my first computer. Things sure have changed in the meantime (except I am still partial to my MacBook 😊 ).

I'd be interested in pictures of the Altair, I remember seeing ads for it in the "Popular" and electronics magazines and drooling.

I waited until the 8K Commodore PET because I'm lazy and clumsy. It had the screen, tape unit and keyboard in an all-in-one case. You only needed to plug in a second tape when you needed to process data from one tape onto another.

@silverstar The first "programming" I did was keying about six pages of assembly instructions into an Apple II. Then....watched it produce a compilation error! Grrr... Luckily even as a sixth grade child, I had enough OCD to stick with it and find and fix my transpositions. Then got rewarded with being able to play a CGI card game! Hooked for life...

Commonly referred to as "machine language." Welcome to the forum! I started 46 years ago on an Altair 8080 with 1K of static RAM, no ROM, so everything was gone when the power was turned off. The only I/O was the front panel switches for input and LEDs for output. Still have the machine, although quite a bit more has been added to it. Maybe I should take some photos and post for the forum members to see,

I hope i did this correctly. I joined DroneBot because I felt that the YouTube videos that I have seen from Bill were, hands down, the best. My background is that I started programming computers 61 years ago. Don't ask what language we used because there was none (ones and zeros). After taking 30 or so years off to run a small railroad, I returned to programming because I really love to do it. I discovered the Arduino by accident one day several years ago and have not been the same since. I have absolutely no electronic experience so many of my questions will probably be very basic to you. I hope you will bear with me and thanks for the invitation to join.
