Greetings All!

My name is Wikus Van De Merwe I'm originally from Johannesburg but I now live in the United Kingdom up in Northumberland.

I am interested in Robotics and delivering STEM education. I have worked in IT Network Management for the government for the last 16 years but I am now becoming interested in teaching and I have decided to do a degree in my spare time so that I can deliver STEM type topics.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Warm Regards!

Hello everyone! I am happy to be a part of this forum as I start my journey with Arduino. Although I am able to follow along tutorials just fine, I am having trouble with my stepper motor. I am not sure if I wired it incorrectly because I do not have a great background with electricity unfortunately.

If anyone is interested in exploring my stepper motor dilemma further, feel free to read my post.

Greetings from Phoenix, AZ.

While I've probably held every possible job there is, I finally put my passion for photography to use and for the past 11-years have been shooting para sports (Paralympic level sports) for a non-profit in the States.

I've always had the tinkering gene, and as such have enjoyed building scale models to exact detail after which I photograph them in natural settings. Suffice to say, electronics are typically a huge part of my scenes but I would rather design and build the circuits myself instead of buying prefabbed boards, which brings me to this forum. I hope to learn a lot from all the smarties here and look forward to some nerdy collaborations. Thanks for having me. Cheers!

Hello everybody, I'm Peter. Been watching the YouTube channel for years now. Thought I would join the forum now that I have some projects under my belt. I experiment with Arduinos, electronics and 3D printing. I work in SketchUp and make almost all my own CAD files. I also have a resin printer and a messy little lab. I look forward to working with the group.

@joelyddon Is it better than Blender?

@everythingiscopy

Sorry, I do not know what Blender is...

Fusion 360 is a very powerful, popular, program for 3D modeling, CAD design, and 3D Printer file generations by Autodesk.

...  and, IMHO, it is very difficult to learn.

@joelyddon Yes I use that too but just for pretty things and renders. I have way more experience with SketchUp. It's just easier for me. I can model something in five minutes in SketchUp. Fusion takes ten times longer.

@peterthinks

I believe it!

I could never get very far with SketchUp...

I'm just an Old Dog with about 60 years of computer programming experience & systems design, etc. who can't learn New Tricks, I guess.

My mind just doesn't want to think like theirs...  🙁

To me, both of those are VERY Unfriendly programs...  all programs I have written/designed, I have strived to make them User Friendly...  A lost art, I guess...

Sorry, I do not know what Blender is...

You mean you've never seen Big Buck Bunny?

This was created with Blender, it's a pretty sophisticated program for doing graphics and animations. I took a stab at it several years ago but wasn't dedicated enough to learn it.

I would categorize it as having a steep learning curve.
