Niclas, Welcome aboard!

WOW!  You have really jumped into a REAL application!  Where is your database, how is it accessed, how large is it & maximum size possible?  I guess you use the Pi to take pics of lic. plates & look them up in your database?  How do you search your database?  What will the Arduino do?  Sounds like an awesome system!

Do you keep track of where the cars are parked, etc.?  Do they park & get their own cars; do the system track where You parked each car so you can get them, on demand?

Sounds very interesting...  Looks like a system that would normally be on much larger systems...

Thank you for keeping us updated on your system, etc.  Sounds very fascinating!

I think you're going to have some real FUN here!  Do it!

Have Fun,
Joe Lyddon

Welcome aboard, Zaac,

You are going to have FUN here,  getting the help you are looking for!

What kind of Control Systems are you working on using the Arduino, etc.?

Enjoy!

Hi Steve ... I'm in Grayson nearby, and would love to make contact with you about ESP32.

I've overcome several hurdles in moving from the Arduino to the ESP32 and to MicroPython, but I find it much more fun to be able to discuss than to use keyboard about ESP32's.  You might know of local meetup groups; or even better a call to local A/C ending-in-"0"+396-0034.

Hi!

The database is a mysql database and right now it is maybe 10-15 names there.
I don't think it will be much bigger than it is right now, it's just a hobby project 🙂
But when it's finnish it wont be a big problem to scale it up, for the real world and real cars and not a small thing on my desk 🙂

Yes, it's a Raspberry that take a picture and then, I don't know what it's called in english, I think it's called OCR and it interprets(?) the picture....anyway, I get a string from this and then I just make a query to the database. If there is a match I take the customers name and print it out on a display, "Welcome Joe, please park your car" or something.

It was meant that the Arduino should print out a ticket if the customer push a button, but I haven't got it to work yet.

That sond very interesting, some kind of parking guidance systems...hm...have to think abot that 😀

Sounds super COOL!

Does the Pi handle your Msql database?  Does it reside on a SDcard or just in nonvol. memory?

I like the pic. recognition feature, etc.  SUPER COOL Touch!

Thank you!

Hello All,

I am happy to join this forum. I am a product maker. I hope that my participation will be mutually exciting and beneficial. I first started with Arduino for iOT stuff. Now I am also using ARM M4.

Hi Reni!

Welcome aboard!

WOW!  That TI ARM M4 looks like a very SERIOUS board!!  Awesome...

What are some of the things that you're doing with it?

What are you looking for here?

Have FUN...  Looking forward to seeing more of what you're doing.

Enjoy!

I am using M4 for wearable to process data coming from several devices like GPS, XZY positioning and accelerometer and drive LEDs.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the intro note. To answer your question about my Arduino systems I am an amature building several mini IoT systems for various around the house applications. I am constantly changing them too. My current project involves a fan which I am turning on and of based on data derived from internal air quality sensors and also REST API weather data. I have the mechanics and programming down pretty well and always looking to improve or tear down and reprogram better.

Stay tuned for longer posts in the forums.

Pleased to meet you all.

Best,

Zaac

Hi,

I am from Australia. I originally bought an Arduino starter kit because I wanted to teach my daughter about circuit theory. I lost her at Ohm's law. But I enjoyed making things and have done a few projects while in isolation.

My aim is to do the following:

  1. Robot based on DB1 of course.
  2. pimp up meccano robots.
  3. Remote control cars out of old toy trucks.
  4. Invisibility cloak with old phone screens and tfts. This is for my kids.
  5. Drone that shoots down flies and mosquitoes with laser from dvd burner.
  6. Drone with IoT operations that chases away pigeons from my balcony.

Anyway, I really like the tutorials on this website. They are very well explained and easy to follow.

Thanks for the message. Yeah, my kids are Harry Potter mad and they think I can do anything. So they've asked me to make them an invisibility cloak.

Can I ask you, where are you putting your weather station?

Is the plan to leave it at a remote location?

You would need a shape changing coat with color changing pigments.

I used to like magic in primary school but by the time I reached secondary school I took a dislike to fantasy beliefs and wanted to know what was real and thus turned to the magic of science.
